Description
In a hardware store up in the north woods, the axe rack was where loggers and farmers stopped first. This vintage Cock of the Woods porcelain sign features a proud white rooster with an axe head, red Cock of the Woods lettering across the top and the Emerson & Stevens Mfg. Co., Inc., Oakland, Maine name along the bottom, with excellent glossy porcelain on an 11″ x 9″ panel.
Emerson & Stevens was an Oakland, Maine, maker of axes and edge tools, and this sign carries its Cock of the Woods brand. A rooster on an axe sign makes for a bold, memorable mark that stands out on any wall. This sign is real porcelain, made with glass enamel fired onto metal for a smooth, glossy surface made to last. It’s a great piece for a cabin, a workshop, a hardware store collection or anyone who still splits their own firewood.
