Description
This vintage Esso porcelain sign is cut in the shape of a little red convertible, with the two smiling Esso oil drop kids riding up front and waving. “Happy Motoring!” is written in white script on the side of the car, and each oil drop wears a small Esso oval on its chest.
“Happy Motoring” was Esso’s slogan through the 1950s and 1960s, and the cheerful oil drop characters showed up on maps, signs and toys. Like every sign we sell, it is real porcelain: glass enamel fired onto steel for colors that stay bright and a glossy finish that cleans up with a damp cloth. Its cut-out shape makes it a fun fit for a kid’s room, a garage, a shelf or a man cave, and it makes a sweet gift for an Esso fan or anyone who loves cartoon advertising.
