Vintage Smokey Bear Porcelain Sign – Please Help Smokey, 13 x 8 1/2 In

Smokey in his ranger hat has been asking campers for help for generations. This vintage Forest Service porcelain sign features Smokey Bear’s face in his campaign hat on a shaped top tab, with green pine trees on each side and “Please Help Smokey Prevent Forest Fires” in bold red and brown lettering on a white 13″ x 8 1/2″ panel with bright colors.

Smokey Bear became the face of the U.S. Forest Service fire prevention campaign in 1944, and his message has been posted at trailheads, ranger stations and campgrounds across the country ever since. In 1950 a real bear cub rescued from a New Mexico wildfire became the living Smokey at the National Zoo. This sign is real porcelain, made with glass enamel fired onto heavy gauge steel in a classic old design, for a hard, glossy finish built to last. It’s a great piece for a cabin, a lodge, a fire station or a collection of national park and outdoor signs.
