Vintage Smokey Bear Porcelain Sign – US Forest Service Wildfire, 12 In

Every camper knows Smokey’s message about fire safety in the woods. This vintage Forest Service porcelain sign features the iconic Smokey Bear in his ranger hat on a green center, framed by a yellow cross shape with United States Forest Service lettering, on a 12″ panel with porcelain on both sides.

Smokey Bear was created for the U.S. Forest Service fire prevention campaign in 1944, and “Only You Can Prevent Forest Fires” became one of the longest-running public service messages in American history. In 1950, a real bear cub rescued from a wildfire in New Mexico’s Capitan Mountains became the living Smokey. This sign is real porcelain, made with glass enamel fired onto metal for a glossy, durable surface made to last. It’s a great piece for a cabin, a lodge, a den or a collection of outdoor signs.
