Description
This Sonic Drive-In porcelain sign shows a smiling carhop in a bow tie carrying a big sack of “Ham-burgers” with “M-M-M-M-M” over his head, drawn in black on a white field. “Sonic Drive-In” and “Service with the Speed of Sound” sit at the top in red lightning bolt lettering, with “Happy Eating” below and red stars for Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas and Arkansas in the corners.
Sonic began in Shawnee, Oklahoma in the 1950s and spread across those four states first. It is real porcelain, made with glass enamel fired onto heavy gauge steel, so the finish is hard, glossy and built to last. The red, black and white look fits a kitchen, a diner, a bar or a game room, and it makes a fun gift for a Sonic fan, an Oklahoma native or anyone who loves a drive-in burger.
