Description
A green and yellow paper shotgun shell is the centerpiece of this classic ammunition ad. This vintage Winchester porcelain sign features Winchester and New Rival in green lettering with leafy scrollwork, a Winchester New Rival shell, “Water Proofed Paper Shot Shells”, “Primed with the Winchester No 2 Primer” and Winchester Repeating Arms Co., New Haven, Conn., on a square 12″ x 12″ panel.
The Winchester Repeating Arms Company was founded in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1866, and its shotgun shells were a staple for hunters across the country. New Rival was one of its well-known paper shell lines, loaded for upland birds and waterfowl. This sign is real porcelain, made with glass enamel fired onto heavy gauge steel in a classic old design, for a hard, glossy finish built to last. It’s a great piece for a gun room, a hunting cabin, a garage or a firearms collection.
