Description
This vintage Mohawk Gasoline porcelain sign shows a Native American chief in profile, his feathered headdress sweeping down the side, set on a red circle inside a bright yellow ring. “Mohawk” arches across the top, “Gasoline” curves along the bottom, and “19” and “60” sit in white boxes on either side, all framed in blue.
Bold Indian chief portraits were a favorite of gas brands in the middle of the century, and Mohawk’s is one of the most striking. It is real porcelain, made with glass enamel fired onto heavy gauge steel, so the finish is hard, glossy and built to last. The red, yellow and blue colors stand out in a garage, a shop, a bar or a man cave, and it makes a great gift for a gas station fan or anyone building a wall of oil company signs.
