Vintage Shell Service Porcelain Sign – Route 66 Desert, Beer Ammo

This vintage Shell porcelain sign is a desert road warning with a sense of humor: “500 Miles Desert” across the top, “Beer, Ammo, Lotto” in red, a skull and dripping “Ice” in the middle, the Shell pecten and Route 66, and “Shell Service” in white on a black band.

Route 66 opened in 1926 and crossed long stretches of empty desert in Arizona and California, where the last gas stop before the Mojave mattered. It is real porcelain, made with glass enamel fired onto heavy gauge steel, so the finish is hard, glossy and built to last. Hang it in a garage, a home bar, a man cave or a Route 66 room, or give it to the road tripper who always fills up early.
