Description
Smokey with his shovel over his shoulder is a reminder every camper takes to heart. This vintage Forest Service porcelain sign features Smokey Bear in his ranger hat and green shirt, holding a shovel in front of blue sky and pines, with Remember across the top and “Only You Can Prevent Wildfires” around the rim, with flames on each side, on a 12″ round face in green and red.
Smokey Bear has been the face of the U.S. Forest Service fire prevention campaign since 1944. In 2001 his famous slogan changed from “forest fires” to “wildfires” to cover grasslands and other wild places too. This sign is real porcelain, made with glass enamel fired onto metal in a classic old design, for a glossy, durable finish made to last. It’s a great piece for a cabin, a lodge, a fire station or a collection of national park and outdoor signs.
