Description
Batman and Robin cruising in the Batmobile on a Gulf sign is a scene that grabs comic fans and gas collectors alike. This vintage Gulf Gasoline porcelain sign features the orange Gulf disc with Batman and Robin riding in the Batmobile and Gulf Refining Co. lettering along the bottom, on a 12″ round face with vibrant colors.
Gulf grew out of the famous 1901 Spindletop oil strike near Beaumont, Texas, and its orange disc became a familiar sight at service stations across the country. Batman first appeared in Detective Comics in 1939, with Robin joining him a year later, and the Dynamic Duo has been a fan favorite ever since. This sign is real porcelain, made with glass enamel fired onto metal for a glossy finish made to last. It’s a great piece for a garage, a game room or a collection of comic book and gas signs.
