Description
A frosty mug of root beer and a big grin make this one hard to pass by. This vintage A&W Root Beer porcelain sign features Dennis the Menace in his striped shirt and orange overalls, licking his lips and holding up a foaming A&W mug, with “M-M-M Good!” beside him and A&W across the top, on an 11 3/4″ round face with bright colors.
Roy Allen sold his first root beer at a roadside stand in Lodi, California, in 1919, and with partner Frank Wright the A&W name was born. Dennis the Menace, the comic strip by Hank Ketcham, first ran in 1951 and became a favorite in newspapers across the country. This sign is real porcelain, made with glass enamel fired onto metal in a classic old design, for a hard, glossy finish built to last. It’s a great piece for a diner, a kitchen, a game room or a soda collection.
