Description
This Esso porcelain sign shows a giant in a Roman helmet rising over green hills while a line of cars winds along the highway below him, past an Esso station. The Esso script sits in blue at the top, “The Giant Power Fuel” is lettered beside him, and a red ring frames the scene.
Esso grew out of Standard Oil, and the name comes from the letters S and O. Its stations were a common sight for drivers across the East Coast and beyond. It is real porcelain, made with glass enamel fired onto heavy gauge steel, so the finish is hard, glossy and built to last. It brings plenty of color to a garage, a shop, a man cave or a basement bar, and makes a fine gift for anyone who loves gas station history and classic cars.
