Vintage Mohawk Oils Porcelain Sign – Newark, N.J., Red, White and Blue

This vintage Mohawk Oils porcelain sign shows a Native American chief in a feathered headdress and beaded necklace, drawn in navy and white over a red circle. “Mohawk Oils” arches across the top in navy on cream, and “Mohawk Refining Corp. Newark, N.J. U.S.” curves along the bottom in white on navy.

Regional oil companies like Mohawk once sold gasoline and motor oil all across New Jersey and the Northeast. Like every sign we sell, it is real porcelain: glass enamel fired onto heavy gauge steel for colors that stay bright and a glossy finish that cleans up with a damp cloth. The red, white and blue colors look great in a garage, a shop, a den or a man cave, and it makes a great gift for a New Jersey native, a car fan or anyone who loves regional oil company signs.
