Mack Trucks Spyke and Tyke Porcelain Sign – Bulldogs, 1957, 12″

This Mack Trucks porcelain sign shows a big gray bulldog and his puppy sitting by a food bowl, with “Spyke and Tyke 1957” in red across the top. The red Mack logo and “Trucks” sit in a green oval below them, and “Greensboro, North Carolina U.S.” runs along the right edge of the white field.

Mack has used a bulldog as its mascot since the 1930s, and Spike and his son Tyke were cartoon favorites in the 1950s. It is real porcelain, made with glass enamel fired onto heavy gauge steel, so the finish is hard, glossy and built to last. The red, green and gray colors look great in a garage, a truck shop, a kid’s room or a man cave, and it makes a fun gift for a trucker, a bulldog owner or a Mack fan.
