This vintage US 1 porcelain sign is cut in the classic highway shield shape, with “Florida” across the top, “US” in the middle and a big “1” below, all in black on a white field with a black border. Small print near the bottom reads “Made in U.S.A.”

U.S. Route 1 runs the length of the East Coast, from Maine all the way down to Key West, and in Florida it follows the Atlantic coast past beaches, small towns and fishing piers. It is real porcelain, made with glass enamel fired onto heavy gauge steel, porcelain on front and back, so the finish is hard, glossy and built to last.
