Description
Skeet shooters calling “pull” on a Sunday morning will know this one at a glance. This vintage Winchester porcelain sign features a bird over an orange sun with a clay target, shooters on the field and a skeet house, with Winchester Ranger and a big red W at the top and bold blue Skeet Load lettering across the bottom, on a 12″ round face with bright colors.
The Winchester Repeating Arms Company was founded in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1866, and its rifles and shotgun shells became household names with hunters across the country. Skeet shooting took off in the 1920s as a way for bird hunters to practice, and Ranger shells were a Winchester favorite for the sport. This sign is real porcelain, made with glass enamel fired onto metal in a classic old design, for a glossy, durable surface made to last. It’s a great piece for a gun room, a hunting cabin, a garage or a firearms collection.
