Vintage United Airlines Porcelain Sign – Fly the Friendly Skies

This vintage United Airlines porcelain sign shows a blue jet airliner climbing across a clean white field, with “fly the friendly skies of United” written in flowing script. The simple blue and white design makes it easy to place on almost any wall.

United traces its roots to Varney Air Lines in 1926, and “Fly the friendly skies” became one of the best known airline slogans after it launched in the 1960s. Like every sign we sell, it is real porcelain: glass enamel fired onto steel for colors that stay bright and a glossy finish that cleans up with a damp cloth. It is a great fit for a pilot’s office, a hangar, a travel-themed room or a frequent flyer’s den, and a thoughtful gift for a retired United employee or aviation fan.
