Description
Three attendants in red caps going to work on an open-top car is a busy, cheerful scene for any gas and oil wall. This vintage Mobil porcelain sign features the crew filling up a green car at red Mobiloil pumps, with Mobil across the top and the red Gargoyle in a Gargoyle Products circle at the bottom, in red, black, green and blue on an 11 3/4″ round face with excellent porcelain.
The red Gargoyle was the trademark of the Vacuum Oil Company, makers of Mobiloil motor oil, and it was a familiar sight at filling stations before the company joined with Socony and grew into Mobil. A full crew at the pumps shows just how much service a fill-up once came with. This sign is real porcelain, made with glass enamel fired onto heavy gauge steel in a classic old design, for a hard, glossy finish built to last. It’s a great piece for a garage, a shop or a Mobil collection.
